EL PASO.

Located at the intersection of two nations and three states, there is plenty to do and see in The Pass of The North.

WELCOME TO THE BORDER.

Bienvenidos

El Paso is part of a thriving, bi-national metropolis, representing a unique mixture of all things American and Mexican. With over 400 years of history, the contributions of Native-Americans, the Spanish, Mexicans, and the cowboys of the Wild West, have all been blended together into one dynamic culture. Today, residents cherish our region's exciting past, celebrate its present success, and look forward to El Paso's promising future.

Our History

The Spanish explorers who reached the Rio Grande in 1581 viewed the pass between two mountain ranges that rose out of the desert and named it El Paso del Norte, or The Pass of The North. Soonafter in 1598, the area was colonized by an expedition under Don Juan de Oñate, who brought Spanish civilization to El Paso.
